36. Is there a place that makes you sad to return to?

ooh, yeah. it's pretty much anywhere back home in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. i just immediately disassociate and just have a miserable time when i visit home, even when nothing bad happens. it's true what they say, you really can't ever go home again. it moves on without you, and everyone you knew also go on with their lives, and things change when you aren't looking... and before you know it it just stops being home altogether ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

it was super depressing when i visited home for the first time after moving away, but at this point it more just bums me out a bit. after I got over the loneliness and depression of realizing i didn't have a home anymore (in the metaphorical sense), i started actually putting down roots and building a new home for myself up here. i made a bunch of new really great friends like @rlainarin and @hexblades-curse (not to mention my amazing local partners @puppykittymousegirl @knightesshawk and @miststorms), started actually exploring and familiarizing myself with my new area, and honestly i'd say i'm 100% a better person now for having expanded my horizons and moving across the country on a whim. it wasn't easy, it was definitely worth it, but also i don't really visit florida much anymore if i can help it. when i do i try to go to the Orlando area or the panhandle, pretty much anywhere that's not around Tampa.

my dirty nasty "I Would Get Demolished For This In 2013 Art Community Culture" secret is I don't know how to draw hands for shit ✌️ I use a combo of stock imagery/online posing models/my own reference photos to composite figures or other anatomy.

It's a trick I picked up in my uni llustration classes (bc if you can't draw something well and you have a tight client budget, compositing a rough sketch takes far less time than fumbling with learning something new. woohoo we love commercial artwork 😌). I essentially trace out the very bare-bones basic geometry (like a quick hexagon for a palm) to use as a structural base. Then I go in and refine the shapes myself. Kinda like making a wire skeleton for a sculpture before you cover it with clay.

It's a habit I'm trying to break tbh. Because while it's an acceptable industry practice that like every other illustrator (as in graphic design/communications adjacent rather than fine art) I know uses, it sucks to rely on it so heavy nowadays. Really trying to relearn how to do all that bc you don't always have access to stock sites or even a camera.

But in this case bc I was just drawing a meme, i'll be totally honest in saying I just straight up traced the hand looooooool. I'll strap myself to the electric chair dw. (kiitty is all mine tho. I sketched over the screenshot to make sure it was framed right but that's about it)

Hello "use Firefox" entities. If anyone would have fun expanding upon the suggestion, my phone came with like 20 google apps and I would prefer to have 0. I'm doubt that is 100% possible because there are very few default programs. Example: no default calender or photo app--just google calendar and google photo. But good lord there are too many of them

Is there a "use Firefox" suggestion for email/calendar/map/file viewer/anything?
